I left Cuba with my parents in the 1980 Mariel BoatLift, as they went in search of a better life.
New York City, the magnificent concrete jungle, offered us a home and the opportunity to dream.
As I focused on my own aspirations and dreams I never forgot my family's journey, their courage, strength, and perseverance to succeed in this new land. It shaped me, and humbled me. And now for the last 16 years, I've been fortunate enough to tell the stories of other people's strength, and courage through my craft.
I’ve worked in post for 23 years, and edited for 16, cutting short form documentaries, promos, film trailers, on-air commercials, and narrative short films.
I started my career assisting in NYC’s Commercial post houses, but the documentary wave of the 90s made a deep impression on me, one that led to my next adventure.
In 2006 I moved to Barcelona, Spain to complete my Masters in Social Documentary. I joined Discovery Communications Latin America based in Miami, Florida soon after, becoming one of two main editors for Discovery’s flagship channel. While there, I won various awards at PromaxBDA for best documentary promo editing.
In 2012, I moved to Los Angeles, California, and helped launch MundoFOX, Fox's first Spanish language channel. As Senior Editor/Producer, I wrote, and edited promos for the channel’s primetime shows. My work on the campaign for Joseph in Egypt received high praises, and was the channel’s highest rated show.
In 2014 I began freelancing at Wondros, editing short documentaries. I ended up working there for over 4 years as staff, and had the pleasure to work on some pretty powerful short documentaries & commercials. A favorite of mine is the 10KSA commercial , promoting the 10,000 Women's March in Saudi Arabia, for Breast Cancer awareness.
For the last four years I have been working contract & freelance jobs for various companies.
I'm a NYU Tisch graduate., fluent in Spanish, and currently edit remotely for both East Coast and West Coast clients.
I look forward to working with you.
